Michael Clay Edwards is a self-taught Artist, Poet and Writer.
Born December 17th, 1965 in Winchester, Kentucky, Michael spent most of his childhood and teen-age years playing sports and exploring the woods, fields, creeks, ponds and lakes around his rural Winchester home.
Throughout his life, Michael developed an acute appreciation for his rural surroundings, the countryside, the hills and the woods. He would often be gone all day with a friend or by himself wading and fishing in creeks, ponds and lakes and hunting or just walking in the meadows, woods and the countryside of Clark County, Kentucky.
Michael has always been actively involved in sports and exercise. He played Football, Baseball and Basketball into High School, recreational Football, Baseball and Basketball in College, his 20's and 30's and has lifted weights and exercised all his life.
Michael Graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in 1983. After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University in 1988, Michael spent the next 17 years working in the Environmental, Health and Safety Field. On October 3rd, 2005 he arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana to help the City and its People rebuild from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. During the next three years, Michael worked as a Project Manager on Environmental and Asbestos Removal and Build-back Projects all over the New Orleans area. He is most proud of his work to rebuild Kenner Hospital, Meadowcrest Hospital, Delgado Community College and the University of New Orleans.
A lack of artistic expression throughout the childhood, teen-age and early adult years of Michael's life made him feel like there was something missing in his person as he got older. In his early 30's Michael began painting, drawing and working with wood, steel, aluminum and copper in his spare time. Michael has been painting, drawing, sculpting, bending, welding and assembling artwork ever since.
Michael is now a professional artist, writer and poet full-time. He lives in New Orleans, Louisiana with his wife, Tracey Anne-Jolie. They are proud parents of six children and two dogs, Nikita and Dickie Earl.
